Cogas offers multiple products and services related to the energy industry. Not only do they construct and maintain the gas and electricity networks in the eastern part of the Netherlands, they also provide homes with fiberglass cable for high-speed telecommunications. Durability is one of their focal points and Cogas prides itself on being innovative and versatile in providing environmental friendly solutions at affordable prices.
Around 130,000 households are connected through Cogas’ gas and electricity grids. This has led Cogas to invest and cooperate in the Pirate project, together with other energy companies such as Enexis and Kiwa, which is a consultation company for the energy and water sector. This robotics project led by the Twente University required Pipe Inspection Robots for Autonomous Exploration. Before this project, it was only possible to measure gas leaks when it was already too late. With these autonomous mini robots, which have the ability to check the pipelines from within, weak spots can be detected by measuring deformations in the pipes.
