PROFILE

  • KinderLab Robotics is a robotics start-up company co-founded in 2013 by Marina Umaschi Bers, professor at Tufts University and Mitch Rosenberg.

Their aim is to help young children in the age of four to seven to become ready for a world in which technology is widely spread throughout society. They do this by teaching them technical, problem solving and cognitive skills in a responsible and playful way and show them that learning can be lots of fun!

KinderLab products are based on over fifteen years of research and while other Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education products exist for middle and high school students, KinderLab uniquely fills a need for a critical population: children under the age of seven.

    KIBO

Kinderlab Robotics developed the KIBO robot kit which is a hand-built robot that doesn’t require a computer, tablet, or smartphone. That is just one of the ways in which it is geared to students who aren’t as technical-minded as to those who are.

Playing with the KIBO kit facilitates sequencing and cause-and-effect thinking among the young students. This is meant to be the foundation of important academic skills needed later in life.
