  • Kokone means Kid in náhuatl, a Mexican dialect. It is a small humanoid robot developed and created by the Mexican institution, CINVESTAV.

This small biped robot stands at only 37 cm and weighs 1.2 Kg, and is mainly made up of aluminium. All of its parts are designed to be as functional as possible in order to reduce unnecessary parts and hence its weight.

The head of this small robot is also capable of doing pan and tilt movements. It is controlled by a computer that sends control signals to the Kokone through a serial link.

The objective of CINVESTAV in creating this humanoid robot is to find a way of making or developing a robotic platform that is affordable and still be very effective in the development of robotic vision algorithms and navigational strategies.
