M3 NEONY
Another M3 (Man-Made-Man) humanoid robot was unveiled by the researchers of Osaka University, headed by Professor Minoru Asada, in collaboration with Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST).
The M3 Neony (derived from the word neonate) stands 50cm tall and weighs 3.5kg. It was built to research and simulate the behavioral development of a baby’s fine motor skills. It has 22 motors used for movement, and 90 tactile sensors used for feeling when it is touched. It is also equipped with 2 video cameras in the head, and 2 microphones in its ears.
