JIBO is a humanized, highly interactive robot that, when released, will have a range of capabilities that make it the perfect helper and companion around the house.
Jibo has been designed by a specialized team, hand-picked and led by Cynthia Breazeal with the aim of being the worlds' first real family robot.
Cynthia Breazeal is an Associate Professor of Media Arts and Sciences at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where she founded and directs the Personal Robots Group at the Media Lab. Being a pioneer of social robotics and Human Robot Interaction, Cynthia Breazeal is recognized as a prominent innovator.
Jibo is capable of many social interactions using natural, social and emotive cues for better understanding which makes the Jibo more socially acceptable.
Most important capabilities:
JIBO will be packaged with many default apps. Using the Jibo Alive Toolkit you can customize Jibo and share your experiences.
With the JIBOAlive SDK the operating system allows 3rd party developers to create apps of their own, so JIBO should adopt even more capabilities in time. It is also possible to post your creations to the JIBO Store for others to enjoy.
Using a Wifi or Bluetooth network, it is possible to connect Mobile devices, Personal computers and other JIBOs for even more interaction.
New skills or content can be added to JIBO through purchasing items from the JIBO Store.
