The annual ICRA conference and exhibition will be held in Seattle, WA, from May 26-30, 2015.
The ICRA conference is the main event that is hosted each year by the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society. International robotics researchers are given the opportunity to present their work at ICRA.
Participants can take part in a long list of sessions, including mini-plenary, plenary and contributed paper sessions. This annual event also features exhibits, tutorials, workshops, robot challenges and an industrial forum.
The 2015 ICRA conference includes the premiere of three new events: A career fair, a Ph.D. forum and a forum about developing countries.
There are nine main segments for ICRA 2015:
Career Fair
The first annual robotics career fair will be held on May 26. Recruiting companies will have interview space available, and people seeking employment can upload their resume before ICRA 2015 for review by each participating business.
Forums and Special Events
There are 14 forums and special events at this year’s ICRA, including “Becoming a Robot Guru,” “Go, Girl, Go!” and the “Shakey 50th Anniversary Celebration.”
Plenaries and Keynotes
There will be 12 keynote speeches and three plenary speeches delivered during ICRA 2105. Speakers include Daniela Rus, Helen Greiner and Dean Kamen.
RAS Events
RAS will host several events throughout the conference. Highlights include the Conference Organizers Workshop and the Young Professionals Luncheon.
Robot Challenges
Five robot challenges will be held at ICRA 2015. The Amazon Picking Challenge features $26,000 in prize money that will be awarded to winning participants.
Social and Networking Events
There will be one social and networking event held each day from May 26-29. The first event, held on May 26, is the Exhibitor and Sponsor Reception.
Technical Tours
There are six technical tours scheduled of nearby facilities. The buildings available for tour include Amazon, Blue Origin, the University of Washington, the VA Hospital, Fred Hutchinson and Boeing.
Workshops and Tutorials
Half-day workshops and tutorials will be held on May 26 and May 30. Topics include Robot Vision: Challenges and Opportunities, Robotics-Inspired Biology and Scaling Up Active Perception.
Exhibition
Approximately 60 exhibitors will be on hand in the exhibition hall, including Amazon, Google, iRobot and RobotiQ.
