Beatrixoord is part of the UMCG Hospital in Groningen. Here, the center for rehabilitation is located together with a Cardiology and Tuberculosis department. Just like many other Dutch rehabilitation facilities, Beatrixoord is also involved in robotics projects that could lead to new developments in the rehabilitation area.
The use of robotics in this medical field has been increasing over the last couple of years, and especially in the use of robotic arms, an upward surge in numbers can be detected. Robotic arms can allow patients to regain function in arms and or hands in the comfort of their own homes. This feature allows patients to work on their own rehabilitation instead of solely relying on healthcare professionals at limited times.
