Demcon is a company based in the Netherlands that researches, develops and produces high-tech mechatronic systems and products mainly for the healthcare sector. Launched twenty years ago in 1993, they provide both the development and the production of the desired product so that the client is supplied with a more complete package. This is more convenient and often leads to a better value for money solution. Demcon has started multiple initiatives in the field of robotics to conduct research in cooperation with several Dutch schools.
The goal of the company is to aim their activities more and more at the medical devices market. They design and produce their products according to the ISO regulations, which specify the conditions they have to abide by, to produce these products for the international market. The innovative products from Demcon are already being used in multiple robotics projects, which presented positive results.
Demcon is the coordinator for the Bobbie project, which aims to lift some of the stress of the present healthcare situation. This project aims to develop care assistance robots, which could be produced on a larger scale and can take away some of the work human care professionals normally have to do. Indications show that this project might be commercially viable and this would be good news for robotic solution in healthcare situations.
