PROFILE

  • ERUS or the Robotic Urology Section at the European Association of Urology introduces robotics as the newest field in urological surgery. This section conducts meetings and master classes while promoting academic cooperation to better understand and develop robot-assisted surgical procedures.

In 2004, around twenty physicians attended a meeting in France to discuss this new field. Since then, ERUS has turned into a scientific platform to explore and promote robotic surgery development. In 2011, ERUS officially joined EAU as an important section.

ERUS conducts regular meetings to promote this new field while arranging live surgery sessions for demonstrations. ERUS gathers exchanges as well as spreads important scientific information. ERUS also works to develop standards and set criteria for robot-assisted surgery training. Urologists interested in robotic surgery come together to use this platform for discussing and understanding robot-assisted surgery.

EAU also has a Junior ERUS session to help people under the age of 40 get a better understanding of basic robotic surgery before learning the complications of the field.
