Recognised as an Associate Laboratory and coordinated by INESC Porto, INESC TEC forms a robust center of technological and scientific development in Portugal by bringing together around 770 researchers. The associate laboratory invests in Advanced Training and Consulting, Technological Development and Scientific Research, Technology Transfer and encourages and assists in the establishment of new tech-based companies.
The associate laboratory serves as an interface between the world of service and industry, the academic world, and the public administration in ITT&E (Information Technologies, Telecommunications and Electronics). Its activities include technology transfer, research and development, advanced training and consulting. Guided by innovation, economic and social impact and internationalisation, INESC TEC aims at forming a team of strategic partners who can guarantee economic sustainability and the institution’s stability.
The strategic objectives of INESC TEC include the development of technology and science that is able to compete on a national as well as international level, and participating in the scientific and technical training of high quality human resources to encourage modernization and improve the nation’s capacities. The associate laboratory also strives to incubate and promote business initiatives to enhance research and development activities.
