PROFILE

  • Dating back to 1614, the University of Groningen aims at providing high quality teaching and research in a wide variety of fields of study. Even though it is not a technical university, the University of Groningen invests in robotics and mechatronics. A group of students and researchers of this Northern University is a part of the RoboCup@Home league. Contrary to the “normal” RoboCup, where robots are judged on their game playing skills, the robots in this league are autonomous service robots. The aim of the contest is to develop assistive robotic technology with a special focus for future personal domestic use. Robots are tested on how well they can perform in a realistic non-standardized home environment.
