    One of the original eight public Ivy Institutions, the University of Texas at Austin, or UT Austin, is a state research university that was established in 1883.

    UT is the flagship institution of the University of Texas System and is a major center for academic research. It also home to seven museums and 17 libraries, like the Lyndon Baines Johnson library and Museum and Blanton Museum of Art.  The J.J. Pickle Research Campus and McDonald Observatory are also some of the several auxiliary research facilities that operate in the university.

    Today, the university is highly regarded as one of the top public universities in the US, notably in its programs in various fields of study. Last year, it was ranked 13th among public universities. The University of Texas at Austin has 16 colleges and schools and two academic units, which are as follows: Cockrell School of Engineering, College of Communication, College of Education, College of Fine Arts, College of Liberal Arts, College of Natural Science, College of Pharmacy, Continuing Education, Graduate Studies, Jackson School of Geosciences, LBJ School of Public Affairs, McCombs School of Business, School of Architecture, School of Information, School of Law, School of Nursing, School of Social Work and the School of Undergraduate Studies.

    Just like any other university today, the University of Texas at Austin immersed itself in the robotics field. Recently, a team of computer scientists went home with the division championship crown during the RoboCup 2012 held in Mexico City, Mexico. The team featured a team of soccer playing robots.

    They hope that one day, their robots could pave the way for a robot capable of searching for bombs, enhancing autonomous cars that could increase traveling efficiency and greatly lessen road accidents. They are also looking for ways to develop robots that are self healing, smart computers and AI agents that could manage business chains more effectively than us. The team was successful in defending their crown which they held last year.
