The Mahanakorn University of Technology is a private university in Thailand that was established on February 27, 1990. This Thai university was founded to train engineering students in the country as a response to the severe shortage of engineers which, at that time, experienced rapid progress in technological development.
It was then known as the Mahanakorn College but due to its serious commitment and the success, it became a university in a short time and was named as the Mahanakorn University of Technology. Today, the school has four faculties namely; the Faculties of Engineering, Information Science & Technology, Veterinary Medicine, and the Faculty of Business Administration.
As a university committed to educating people in the field of technology, MUT has various research centers, laboratories and facilities that aim at providing students with adequate knowledge and solid experience.
One of these advance facilities is at the school’s Department of Mechatronics, wherein students and researchers are provided with state-of-the-art equipments that could be used to learn the many aspects of engineering and have a more comprehensive work.
The projects developed at the university include the Self Balancing Bicycle Robot, which is a two wheeled futuristic looking electric bike. Moreover, the school was also able to send some its students at the IDC RoBoCon 2011 where the school bagged the runner up awards.
Being a highly technological institute, the school maintained its prestige as the first and only school in Thailand that operates its own low-orbit microsatellite.
