The Massachusetts Institute of Technology, popularly known as the MIT, is one of the most notable research universities not only in the United States of America but in the entire world. Founded in 1861, but officially opened four years later, MIT is a bastion for education, especially in the field of physical sciences and engineering.

The MIT Junior Cheetah, which is a robotic quadruped, the stickbot, and Mertz are some of the robots that were developed inside the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
