The first products released by the company were interface cards that connected instruments to standard office computers. The development of instrument software and hardware tools started right after IBM launched the personal computer.
National Instruments is also very involved in education and events about robotics and technology. One the event sponsored by National Instruments is the Field Robot Event, where a competition is made of precision agriculture with robotic systems. This competition allows students to unleash their creativity in robotics, with the goal of sharing experiences and re-introducing the youth to the technological sciences.
