Situated in the South of the Netherlands, NTS Optel is an engineering company founded in 1986. Specializing in applied optics, opto-electronics and laser technology, NTS Optel consults in the development and production of products related to these fields. The company is equipped with an optic and electronic laboratory where experiments and measurements can be performed.
NTS Optel is also involved in the Rose project, which has the goal of developing a teleoperated service robot that is a remotely controlled robot developed to help the elderly or disabled people with their daily activities in and around the house. In this way, an operator at a distance can operate more than one robot at the same time. Even though the end goal of the project is to make Rose more autonomous, its link with human control will always be used for safety reasons.
