PROFILE

  • Established in 1994, Tree C is a privately held, independent company that develops 3D graphics software. The company is primarily active in the offshore sector, where it develops simulation technology with photorealistic visuals, accurate physical behaviour and precise hydrodynamics. Simulations for the offshore sector can, for example, involve dredging, drilling and heavy lifting.

The simulators are used to validate and design procedures and train personnel. Moreover, the simulators serve as effective tools in the engineering and design process by offering a realistic and safe test environment for the equipment.

Tree C is currently working on a project to make maintenance of the nuclear fusion reactor ITER safer. Certain parts of this reactor are too dangerous for people to perform maintenance work. The development of a robotic system that could handle this workload would be an expensive project, where mistakes are costly. Constantly making new prototype robots is very expensive, which is why the need for an interactive simulation environment comes into play. The simulation system provides realistic force feedback, making it feel like you are actually controlling the prototype.
