With more than 18,000 students, the Paris University of Salzburg is the largest institution in the province of Salzburg. The university’s Interfaculty Department of Geoinformatics (Z_GIS) is an interdisciplinary department that is committed to applied and fundamental research, outreach activities, networking, integrated spatial analysis, professional education and training. Z_GIS is contributing in the development of new techniques and new technologies for managing businesses, environments and societies.
Z_GIS contributes to the global geospatial community with the help of memberships in professional and scientific associations. Z_GIS focuses on spatial modeling, interoperable GIS usage, satellite remote sensing, digital cartography, GI-based communication and image analysis. GI related tools and methods are applied as well as adapted to urban and landscape analysis, crisis and conflict prevention, water and environmental management, and climate change adaptation.
Z_GIS is involved in the project TIRAMISU, where it contributes in non-technical survey, land impact survey, dissemination, exploitation and validation of remote sensing based services or products.
