KIBERTRON is a Bulgarian Robotics project that aims at researching, designing and constructing a humanoid robot. Started by Ahmed Merchev on September 27th 2002, KIBERTRON has become a global project with international team members working on it.
While the domain kibertron.com was registered in October 2002, the international team was formed later in March 2003. In March 2004, the company registered as KIBERTRON Ltd. to officially implement this project. Since then, team members and people interested in the project have been working to make the whole idea of developing a “humanoid robot” as realistic as possible.
Unlike many other Robotics projects, KIBERTRON doesn’t aim at creating an "expensive toy" robot for fun or amusement. But, the project’s main idea is creating an intelligent and sophisticated humanoid robot. It is expected that the robot’s intellect, autonomy, composition, kinematics, dimensions and dynamics will be similar to that of humans. The company claims that the KIBERTRON project is open to anyone interested in developing himself.
