Funded by the European Commission, the Swarmanoid project is a Future and Emerging Technologies project. Comprised of dynamically connected, heterogenous, small autonomous robots, this research project aims at designing, implementing and controlling a novel distributed robotic system. These robots will collectively shape a swarmanoid, which will be made up of many (around sixty) autonomous robots of three kinds: hand-bots, foot-bots and eye-bots.
The Swarmanoid project will be based on the results generated at the time of the Swarm-bots project. The coordinator of the Swarmanoid project is Professor Marco Dorigo, who is also the co founder of the swarm robotics research fields and swarm intelligence.
