  • Laparoscopic surgery, otherwise known as a Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS), has not advanced in the past decades while other, formally invasive surgeries, are now making progress towards becoming easier to do and to recover from. The idea behind project Teleflex is to develop a new, highly technical surgical robotic system for these kinds of surgeries.

    A flexible endoscope that is used in surgeries nowadays already has a lot of technology but operating it cannot safely be done by just one surgeon, making it a costly business. To counter this effect, a robotic manipulator can both improve quality and reduce the cost by only making it necessary for one surgeon to operate the manipulator.
