  • RUBICON or the Robotic Ubiquitous Cognitive Network is a Robotics project that aims at creating a self-learning robotic ecology. This will be based on a network of effectors, sensors as well as mobile robot devices.

    The project focuses on creating an ecology that will be capable of teaching itself about the environment while improving strategies to perform various tasks. The RUBICON ecology will serve as a persistent memory as well as source of intelligence for every participant while exploiting the mobility and advanced sensing skills of the robots to check and get feedback on its own performance. The nodes of this advanced ecology will support mutual learning. As a result, the ecology will be able to detect, commission as well as fulfill tasks in a more effective and efficient manner.

    The RUBICON project aims at reducing the amount of preparation as well as pre-programming needed by the deployment of wireless sensor network or robotic solutions. Furthermore, the RUBICON ecology can play an important role in reducing the need to sustain as well as re-configure already-deployed systems. Therefore, changes in the systems can be easily applied and advanced components can be effortlessly accommodated. Moreover, the project will play an important role in improving the quality of WSN service by eliminating the need of extensive human involvement.
