  • Caring Robots is a 2 week long summer course about robotics, where the first week is held in Almere and the second week the students travel to Barcelona. The course is aimed at Bachelor and Master Students with a strong interest in the field of robotics.

As the project name already explains, the course is about the newest developments in robotics with regard to healthcare. The interesting aspect of the course is that students for both the technical side as well as the social studies side can attend this summer course. They will follow partly different tracks, but the main goal of the project remains the same. The course gives a good overview of the possibilities of robotics in healthcare, and shows how cooperation between multiple fields of science can lead to successful health care aid.

We can see a certain trend developing in the health care sector. Financial strains and a grim financial future leads this sector to invest in alternatives to human health care. Over the last couple of decades there have been many successful projects that help for example autistic children with social issues or elderly people with day-to-day activities. The first week of the course will be focused on learning, while in the second week the students have to show their skills and abilities to cooperate to try and develop something new for the world of caring robots.
