  • CB2 is a child-robot with biomimetic abilities developed by JST ERATO Asada Project. Standing at 4 feet 5 inches and weighing 72 pounds, this humanoid robot is built for the purpose of human study of cognitive development, social maturity, behavior, attitude and other personal stuff that affect an individual’s growth.

    CB2 robot doesn’t just look like a baby; it is also capable of learning like one. Part of CB2 robot’s learning is having a family or someone who can provide touch and belongingness as these are the fundamentals of baby development.

    This robot from JST ERATO Asada Project is claimed to be the most advanced baby-like robot in the world of robotics.

    • Soft silicon skin cover with 197 embedded tactile sensors contributing to comfortable human-robot interaction
    • Cameras in its eyes allow vision and eye contact
    • Microphones in its ears allow it to respond on voice commands
    • Flexibility with its 56 times DOB
    • 51 pneumatic actuators allowing CB2 to swiftly convert compressed air into motion
    • Synthetic vocal chords permit creations of baby-like sounds
