    Osaka University developed a humanoid robot that has a strong human-like resemblance. This android, manufactured by the Kokoro Company Ltd. (the animatronics division of Sanrio), is called the Actroid.

    The Actroid was first introduced at the International Robot Exhibition held at Tokyo, Japan in 2003. After the exhibit, several versions of this robot have been produced and released.

    The Actroid’s appearance is that of a young Japanese child. The Actroid robot can mimic sounds and other simple human functions, like blinking, speaking, and even an appearance of breathing in its chest.
