ETH Zurich Autonomous Locomotion on Four legs, or ALF, is a robotic platform designed to support research on the perception of legged locomotion. ALF has a wide range of leg motion that allows it to do complex manoeuvres and increases its movement capabilities. It also helps to navigate and explore its surroundings using special touch interaction called haptic interaction.

ALF weighs 15kg and stretches almost half a meter, allowing this robot to be handled by a person. Although relatively small, ALF can carry heavy payloads with sophisticated sensors. ALF has a large range of motion, and can lower itself to its main body and turn from a walking to a crawling motion even on difficult surfaces.

    Features:

    • Haptic Interaction
    • Sensors
    • Actuated hips
    • 3 DOF in each leg
