Hyeon-Seung Yang of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) developed a new humanoid robot, Ami.  This robot is smart enough to converse with people using sentences and express emotions at AIM Lab in Korea.

Ami, which means ‘friend’ in French and stands for Artificial-Intelligence Multimedia Innovation, can specifically utilize 50 sentences and can convey six feelings:  anger, happiness, grief, pleasure and depression.

Robot Ami can easily move around to deliver things or convey thoughts or feelings. Perhaps one can find a good conversation over a cup of tea, upon meeting robot Ami all the way from Seoul.

Ami is not only good in conversation, she is very capable of performing simple tasks like picking things up and even sweeping the floor.  Yang’s research team specifically designed Ami for household use.

This female robot can easily move through rooms, climb stairs and get around obstacles using her sensors. An LCD screen is placed in her chest where interior operations are displayed.
