  • Arne robot was developed by the students at St. Petersburg State Polytechnic University and was funded by the Russian company, New Era. The name of the robot stands for ‘Anthropomorphic Robot of New Era’ and was developed in year 2003.

    Arne stands 4 feet tall and weighs 61 kilograms. It can walk independently and avoid obstacles easily. This humanoid robot is capable of remembering and distinguishing objects. It can also respond to 40 separate voice commands instantaneously. Arne is capable of synthesizing its own voice. This Russian robot comes in the color of white and blue.

    • With electromechanical drives suited for soccer playing capability
    • Integral perception using acoustic, vision, gyroscope, and force sensor systems
    • Complex behavior enabling it to navigate in complex environment
    • Four FlexiForce Tactile Sensors in each of its feet for stability
    • 28 Degrees of Freedom: each arm has 5X DOF, each leg has 6X DOF, each hand has 2X DOF, head and neck have 2X DOB
    • Its head has 1 color TV camera, TV signal Transmitter & speaker
    • Capable of providing several diagnostic speech messages in cases of robot malfunction by using its digital speech processor
    • Audio and video processing are done in a remote PC for situations where complex decision-makings are necessary
