  • Developed by Boston Dynamics, Atlas is a humanoid robot that has been specifically designed to deal with outdoor, rough terrain. The high-mobility robot is capable of walking on two legs while using its upper limbs for lifting and carrying as well as manipulating the environment. In challenging terrain, the robot has the strength and coordination to climb with its feet and hands as well as to pick its way through crowded areas. The robot is powered from an off-board, power supply through a flexible power cable.

    Utilizing its articulated hands with touch sensors, Atlas can use the various tools used by humans. Equipped with 28 degrees of freedom, two arms, legs, feet as well as a torso, Atlas can perform a variety of human-like tasks. The robot also features a head that consists of several separate sensors parts that contains stereo cameras as well as a laser range finder.
