In 2002, the Biomimetic Robotics Laboratory of the Korean Institute of Science and Technology, or KIST, developed a 75cm tall humanoid robot created to look like a 1 year old human child. KIST aptly calls their robot the Babybot.

The babybot has limited speech recognition. Its image processing capabilities, though limited, have a high resolution due to its unique vision system, especially when it is looking at the center of an object.

The resolution on the outer edges, though, is quite low. This is mainly due to the fact that the babybot’s system was designed to copy the way our eyes work, focusing on what is being directly gazed upon.

Aside from its size, which they based on Korean toddlers, this Korean robot weighs 15kg and has 24 Degrees of Freedom (DOF). This humanoid can also walk and do some dance steps.

    BabyBot Features:

    • Unique Vision System
    • Cameras
    • Gyroscope
    • biped
    • DC servo motors
