  • Oscar Deniz Suarez of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria created a sociable robot called Casimiro. This robot shows expressive power like facial and voice expressions.

It can also locate, pay attention to and can address people, something that is present in human or also known as social intelligence. To complete its capacity to interact with the people around it, Casimiro was also given the ability to generate sounds allowing it to compose simple greetings.

Human sciences like developmental psychology, ethology and neurophysiology have been the main approach that was used in this robot. Suarez knows that a robot that can socially engage with people is quite new for robotic research. However, with the sciences and social intelligence that was used, the Casimiro can eventually break new grounds.
