KupaKuma, an individual robot developer, created Chrome Kid as an entry to the 3rd ROBO-ONE Humanoid Helper Project held in December of 2010.

For that specific competition, Chrome Kid, reincarnated as a school boy sized humanoid, has a big heart for the humans it interacts with. This humanoid robot greeted the attendees of the events and asked them to take their seats. It retrieved hot towels from an electric heating cabinet and politely offered them to guests.

During the competition, KupaKuma planned to have Chrome Kid serve cakes to the guests; however, the time intended for the robot to showcase his abilities elapsed.
