RM Education, in collaboration with DACTA, developed and created its first robot aimed at the educational market. Manufactured by MechRC, the ED-E robot will be utilized to teach students in several subjects, such as physics and computer programming.

The ED-E Robot is transparent and allows students to view its servo motors that are working. It can perform several routines, such as jumping, dancing, headspins, and backflips.

With a movie frame installed in the ED-E, multiple entries can be downloaded to its computer, which can be previewed on the screen. They are later uploaded to the handset for the robot to act out the motions filed.

ED-E is currently marketed to children ages 14 and above, but the developers aim to tap the lower age bracket as well. DACTA hopes that this robot, a milestone in the development of robotics in education, will offer a unique way for students to learn some of the theories behind human movement, physics, programming, and engineering.

    Features:

    • 17 servo motors
    • Uses a computer for its programming
    • LCD Screen monitor
    • Handset, speakers, and cameras
    • Biped robot
    • Transparent body frame
