Aside from its simplified scaled model humanoid robot Elvina, Sweden’s Chalmers University developed a scale model of a full-size humanoid robot called Elvis. It stands 70 centimeters and has 42 standard servo motors.

The purpose of this research was to make a robot capable of walking upright and able to navigate using a vision capability, which will also serve another humanoid robot, the Priscilla robot. Elvis is fully autonomous and has an onboard power supply and processing unit. It is actually the oldest of CAT’s robots being assembled since 1998.

One year after it was developed, this robot was modified with a new head, torso and legs. Elvis finally took its first autonomous step in April of 2000, and joined the Expo2000 in Germany.

    Features:

    • 42 standard servo motors
    • Microphones and cameras
    • Installed with touch sensors
    • Onboard computer and processing unit
