The Japanese company Kawada Industries’ Aircraft and Mechanical Systems division, together with JSK Laboratory, developed a humanoid robot in 2001 meant to cooperate with humans: the ISAMU.
The technology that the company employed in this humanoid robot is part of Japan’s ongoing research to come up with practical humanoid robotic technology. Furthermore, this bipedal robot, the ISAMU, uses some of the technology that the company obtained from robots made by the University of Tokyo, the H6 and H7.
The ISAMU is used by Kawada Industries as a test bed for its future product development for the business of "human-interactive motion control" and uninhabited systems. It developed this through its electro-mechanical engineering technology, which it got from helicopter research and development.
