KaMERo, or the Kaist Motion Expressive Robot, is a leg-wheel hybrid mobile robot developed by South Korea’s KAIST.  It has three leg-wheels which allow it to move in three different ways.  The robot has a total of 7 degrees of freedom, where each hybrid leg mechanism consists of 2 DOF.

Each leg has a 90 degree bendable knee joint with one wheel at the end of the leg.  The rear leg of the robot is an active wheel and has its own actuator. The other two legs are passive wheel legs and are mainly there for stability. These three wheels are oriented towards the center and can be steered independently of each other.
