  • Nippon Engineering College released a personal educational robot at the ROBO JAPAN held in Yokohama, Japan in 2008. This personal robot, the KARFE, was developed to help robots and humans learn to interact and communicate with each other.

    The Japanese college with its KARFE robot aims to add capabilities that are more practical.  They want their robot to recognize speech, synchronize with home audio-visual appliances, and be remotely operated through wireless LAN and internet.

    This educational robot has been equipped with interactive capabilities for household help. It also functions as a guard robot and even takes care of children. In order to cope with ever-changing roles, this humanoid robot continuously evolves with the help of several robot engineers.
