Hubo Lab developed another bipedal robot which is the next version of the KHR-1, the KHR-2. The new robot is very similar to its predecessor in that it can also perform movements such as kung-fu fighting, walking, acrobatics, and super kicks.

It has improved its performance, however, and its usability is better in terms of expanded programmability, high performance servos, real-time master/slave control and scalable analogue inputs.  It also has the newer version of the Heart-to-Heart software, which features drag and drop programming using flow chat type blocks.

The control board of the KHR-2 is an RCB-3J that can control 24 servo motors.  It incorporates two serial communication approaches, a high and low speed serial port, both of which support real-time control.  This new version also features analogue and digital sensor input channels, master/slave control and multi-tasking. The digital and analogue inputs open a wealth of interface and autonomous behaviour possibilities.

KHR-2’s multiple servos communicate via ICS Interface just like the previous model. The ICS Interface is necessary in order to adjust the Pulse Stretch, Speed, Punch, Dead band, Damping, Protection Timer, and Range Limits.

    Features:

    • Simpler resin plastic joints
    • Can be controlled by a joystick
    • KHR-2 kit is much easier to assemble
    • USB interfaced
    • Immediate response to commands
