  • KIBO is the brain child of Kinderlabs Robotics, a robotics company based in Massachusetts, USA.

KIBO is an educational robot kit from which students make their own custom KIBO, a wood and plastic rolling robot.  After building their custom bot, students can program the KIBO by aligning wooden blocks in various ways. Then they scan it with the body of the robot to instruct KIBO what to do and press the button to activate KIBO.

Building KIBO also causes the students to be active, since KIBO doesn’t use apps or smart phones. it is this kind of hands-on work that has the most impact on children.

KIBO lets children make almost anything that they can think of: a character from a story, a carousel, a dancer, a race helicopter. Playing with KIBO teaches young children not only problem solving but show them that learning can be lots of fun too!

The goal behind KIBO is to bring all types of children into science and teach them programming, and along the way, problem-solving, cause-and-effect and sequencing skills. It’s also to make this sort of thinking part of a young student’s understanding of himself or herself.
