Kompott
Kompott is a prototype robotic machine developed by the Zurich University of the Arts in Switzerland. It was made especially for the elderly who have weakened and/or continually weakening senses. Its main function is to let the elderly stay connected to their family and friends via the robot’s touchscreen head.
The head displays perceptive icons of virtual contents varying from emails to video. These contents can be browsed by tapping the left or right side of the robot’s head and tapping the icon to open it. The user’s contacts can be accessed through Kompott’s chest.
Kompott is equipped with a speech synthesis feature for those elderly who have difficulty in reading and writing. It also has a speech-to-text feature and is capable of following voice commands.
