The now defunct Robos Corporation developed a series of humanoid robots before they called it quits. These robots were part of the Japanese company’s Kozoh series, which was spearheaded at the time by Yasuo Mori, who later left the company to form his own company.

The first of this series was the Kozoh I, which was completed in 2002. Then the second version, Kozoh II, came along but was not made available to the public. When the Kozoh III came into the picture, this version was showcased at the International Robot Exhibition, or IREX, of 2003. The Kozoh III was designed with a white body casing and enhanced with several head variations that included stereoscopic CCD cameras as its eyes and several varieties of sensors.

This newer version is a bit taller than its predecessor: it is 100 centimeters; the first version is only 90 centimeters tall. This bipedal humanoid robot is also a bit heavier than the earlier versions, weighing 20 kilograms while Kozoh I weighs only 16. Just like the earlier version and the rest of the series, this robot runs on Art-Linux and used OpenHRP software. These robots were also used as research platforms and could track a ball, approach it, and even kick it.

When fully charged, this robot can be operated by a battery for an hour. Despite being part of the IREX 2003 event, this Japanese bipedal robot never got the chance to show what it was capable of.
