  • Japan based Hyogo Prefectural Institute of Technology created a programmable robot specifically made to walk on a ramp. This model robot is called the Manekin Robotto.

This robot stands at 163cm or 5’3”, a little shorter than an average female model. It is flat chested, weighs 66lbs and has a Body Mass Index (BMI) of only 11.7, quite low compared to the required BMI of at least 18.

Although this robot sounds to be any model’s dream, its face is not “beautiful”. In fact, it is so robotic that only its creators can love it. It has a cubic head and revealing wires, which would distract modelling fans.

Actually, the Manekin Robotto is more of a walking coat hanger than a model treading the catwalk. This bipedal humanoid robot with 16 joints and motorized cylinders can be controlled from a computer. Although far-fetched, this robot may someday replace real models at the ramp.

    Manekin Robotto Features:

    • Aluminium frame
    • Cubic head
    • Biped
    • Camera
    • PC controlled
    • SD card capable
    • Can be controlled through a cell phone
