MeBot
MIT Personal Robotics Groups has come up with a semi-autonomous robotic avatar that will soon take care of dreary business, and will give a person a richer way to work together with an audience through video and phone conferencing.
MeBot, as they call it, has two small arms that allow non-verbal communication and a neck with three DOF for simple emotional signals. It is positioned in a mobile base, which allows the robot to roam around.
Considered a telepresence robot, the operator’s face is displayed on the screen located in its head. MeBot’s arms are manually controlled, while the moving screen is controlled automatically.
