Leading Edge Design and Japan’s Science and Technology Agency have developed Morph 3, a metal athlete robot conventionally designed with an effective mechanical/electrical system. Its name comes from the custom-built Morph Motor Modules and Flexible Morph Cables that control the robot’s movement. It has an exterior shape designed for enclosure, covering the entire robotic scheme. Morph 3 is designed with a minimalist approach, which is reflected by the athlete robot’s lean muscles.

Morph 3 is made with a duralumin frame that protects the 30 servos installed. It has retractable fingers for grasping objects and “bracing” itself against impact from falls. The robot’s high athletic ability was achieved through a typical configuration approach including restrictions in its joint angle ranges.

    Features:

    • Equipped with wide range of electrical components
    • CPU module capable of high-speed floating-point arithmetic
    • Equipped with 138 internal and external sensors
    • Connects via computer networks
