  • The Nanyang Technological University created a service robot called NASH. It would one day replace human maids and factory workers. Constructed from lightweight aluminium and hard plastic, this 1.8 meter tall, 80 kg robot is considered to be the world’s smartest humanoid robot.

    Short for NTU Advance Smart Humanoid, NASH is able to copy human motion, climb a flight of stairs, follow verbal commands, and can even recognize things like apples and cups, among others. With its advanced technologies, the NASH robot can even make decisions based on the information it gathers, respond to human languages and understand the commands it receives.

    As a service or maid robot, the NASH can lift objects that weigh as much as 40kg on its back and 10kg per hand. Additionally, developers made this robot stable enough to resist being pushed and pulled from different directions.

    Researchers at the Singaporean institution hope that one day this humanoid robot can autonomously interact with humans, aid them with their daily tasks and eventually, help the older people effectively.
