    Octopus is a robot designed by ETH Zurich. It has tactile sensors to detect obstacles and explore rough terrain. It is installed with 16 infrared sensors able to measure tire deformation during contact with the ground. Octopus has 15 DOF – eight on wheels, six on motorized articulations, and one on passive articulation. The forearms are linked to the arms by a motorized joint.
