P4
P4 is the fourth and final prototype humanoid robot in Honda’s P-series. It was completed in the year 2000. This last robot was called ASIMO, and this is the popular name that the general public has for this model. It stands 160cm tall and weighs 80kg with 34 degrees of freedom.
ASIMO has a walking speed of 2.7km/hour and 1.6km/hr when carrying a 1 kg load. Its running speed is 6km/hour on a straight course and 5km/hour on a circling route. It has a continuing operating time of 40 minutes to 1 hour when walking.
The reduced weight of this last model is primarily because of its much slimmer body. It also has a much sleeker design and has more rounded joints and parts. Its movement is also a lot more fluid, which brings it closer to actual human motion.
