Developed by the Spanish TheCorpora, the Q.bo Lite Evo is an open source robotics platform with very low power consumption and high performance. The Q.bo Lite Evo is designed for people who wish to skip the choosing the components and assembling steps. The robot allows software developers to concentrate on the software and stop worrying about the electronic and mechanical level.
With 2 webcams, 2 eyelids and 3 microphones, the robot is capable of extracting information to detect nearby people and objects. The Q.bo Lite Evo is capable of detecting faces and recognizing them by making use of the retrieved images from webcam.
Other features of the Q.bo Lite Evo include stereoscopic vision, speech recognition, object recognition and tracking, 3D Slam, obstacle detection, WiFi connection and tele-operation. Moreover, the robot incorporates a number of external and internal sensors as well as an INTEL i3 processor, which enables real time high speed operation. The robot can also function when connected to the power supply, and has autonomy between 2 and 4 hours.
