  • Being the first humanoid robot built by PAL Robotics, REEM-A is a robot designed to be used as a manipulation, walking, vision and speech development platform and play chess with the Hydra chess engine.

    REEM-A has a height of 1.4m, weighs around 40 kg and has 30 degrees of freedom. The robot is capable of moving at a speed of 1.5km/h. REEM-A is equipped with a microphone, six axis force control, stereo camera, gyroscopes and accelerometers.

    After its completion in 2005, REEM-A participated in the RoboCup competition in Bremen in 2006. There, the robot won the walking competition and secured the place of a semi-finalist in the penalty kicks. REEM-A participated in the RoboCup in Atlanta in 2007, and was once again a semi-finalist in the penalty kick competition.
