Being the second humanoid robot built by PAL Robotics, REEM-B is designed to help humans with daily tasks. REEM-B is capable of speech interaction, face recognition, biped walking and traversing stairs. Moreover, it can recognize objects, pick them up and evaluate as well as map out a room for better navigation. REEM-B equipped with sensors to let it autonomously learn its environment and roam within it by avoiding barriers without any human intervention.
REEM-B has a height of 1.4m and weighs around 60 kg. The robot is capable of carrying up to 12kg in its arms and can move at a speed of 1.5km/h. REEM-B uses a main CPU consisting of a Core 2 Duo and a Geode to operate for up to 120 minutes before the battery requires to be recharged.
The highly articulated hand and stereo cameras system of REEM-B lets it to grasp numerous types of objects. The robot can not only speak to humans and recognize faces, but it can also accept voice commands and provide appointment reminders just like a personal assistant.
